To the administrator and all who subscribe to the Nabua Forum.kultura volunteers.org,

In behalf of all the members of the Zigzag Frat Int’l of Nabua, please accept our apologies for using the name of your website as our project title. It was first called “Summit Meeting of Nabua Organizations” when the idea was introduced to us by our Community Service Committee chairperson on May 14, 2006. We later referred to it as the “Nabua Summit” for short.

Because of other commitments it was tabled for further studies. On July 4, 2007 the idea was reintroduced and approved, and a project committee was created. In a committee kick off meeting early this year, the title was changed to “Nabua Forum” to acquiesce some members that expressed concern over the connotation of the word “summit” being applicable to a gathering of world leaders.

I assure you that we merely applied the meaning of the word. We did not mean to infringe on the naming rights of your website. It was an innocent mistake and I take full responsibility for suggesting the name.

We thank you for the grace in the manner that you mentioned our misstep. We also ask that the statement referring to “Town of Nabua” website as sponsor for our project be corrected. We only asked their help in disseminating the information. We also intended to use your website but could not get to do it earlier. We do welcome all the ideas and help that your site could give us.

While referring back to your website as I was finalizing this letter, I noticed that a string of discussions connected to our blunder started and I am afraid that this may grow into a big misunderstanding.

To put a stop to this matter, I ask that this letter be published immediately. And to minimize the confusion, I recommend affixing the words “Nabua Summit” in parenthesis, when referring to our project.

Nabua is so lucky to have dedicated young
individuals who put time and effort for our two wonderful website in the internet. Let us maximize the benefit of this medium to reach a broader audience and support.

It is good to hear that your organization understands why the members of this website reacted upon hearing that a conference with the same name as this forum is being organized without their knowledge. I think that it is not very surprising that people also wondered why Mr. Estadilla informed or emailed individual members of this website, instead of just logging in and sending an invitation for everyone, including myself, to read. Anyway, I find it even more strange that organizers of your conference registered the domain name www.nabuaforum.org... Please tell me if you honestly think that there is nothing wrong with this move? I insist that this creates nothing but confusion, and some even can argue that this is a kind of identity poaching. I already emailed Mr. Estadilla about this issue, he has not replied yet, but for your reference I am pasting here the copy of the letter I sent him this morning:

I just noticed today that you have registered the nabua conference under the domain name www.nabuaforum.org. I just thought that it is just an issue of ethics to do so. I have been raising funds for paying nabua forum's web hosting and last week, i finally received pledges from the users of the nabua forum which would pay for this year's web hosting. part of the plan was to purchase the domain www.nabuaforum.org.

may i ask if i can buy that domain from you. because obviously, having double names will only create confusion and conflict.

Ono na naman ading isyu na adi? …Taono man ta kaipuwan pang agawon ana ngaran? …Pwede man baga magpasintabi sa mga nauna ta kabisto man…Boko man ading question kin agko copyright infringement o uda…Simpleng isyu adi ka na magkakabisto sagkod magkabanwaan na magrespetuhan basang…. Boko man ading isyu kin sisay ana masentabo na kayang bakalon tulos ana domain… Kin masentabo man kintana ana usad na tawo dapat gamiton sa tamang rason.

Para sa mga nanunungran o kin sisay man ana kagpoon ka na usad na site, ipinaiisi ko po na ading original NABUA FORUM dire kaninyo nakikikumpetensya o nakikiagawan sa onra. Sa kamaturan, dapat ngani magtinabangan pa ta usad sana man kitang lugar pinaggalinan.
