This is part of the e-mail message that i sent to Mr Ralph Estadilla, site moderator of townofnabua.net, who invited me to contribute to the said "Nabua Forum 2008":

. . . . nabayad ko na tabi an website kan townofnabua.net, courtesy of dra orbita na naka chat ko minsan sadto NABUA FORUM. kadakol tabi kan ideas ko, ranging from a development plan for the town as well as establishing an investment fund for nabua, providing credit facilities for the poor and linkages with local institutions (schools and alumni associations) to provide livelihood opportunities to deserving groups and barangays. But the most pressing problem that need to be addressed right now is the flooding problem which has been plauging our town since time immemorial. . . .

The members of the Nabua Forum, particularly the moderator and myself, are very much interested with whatever plans and programs that would be beneficial for our town. But please, i have to warn you or anyone else, i am a very political person but i hate politics and despise politicians. No offense meant but once politics ever comes into the picture, count me out. I hate back biting and the crab mentality that is inherent in the Filipino psyche . . . in the mentality of the Nabuenos specially . Let's all work together, for once. This is not for us . . . this is for Nabua and its people. It is not too late to help but time may run out on us if we keep on bickering and grabbing credit for all the causes that we will be doing.

The concept and idea being presented is noble
and praiseworthy.

It would help if we can identify specific
task the organizer have in mind on how overseas
Nabuenos would be able to participate/or get involved.

It is my ardent hope, that those who will be actively
participating in this noble effort will have only
the welfare and progress of our town in their mind.

Let us all give this project a full support.

Your dislike for some of the attitude prevailing in
our community is understandable. However, at some point
we need to accept it and reconcile ourselves with
the truth......that we too in some way have those attitudes that we so hate to see.

Pls dont get me wrong, this statement is just for
us to move on and create something better for our
community.

You got it right with your idea of some sort of a
livelihood for our community. Im just excited
with that idea. However primary to this is to
organize our community and convince them that
help comes thru their effort and not from us.

what is really at stake in going overseas......

To most of us development "means" going overseas. I
guess this is a sort of illusion.
