The news on Gabaldon is heartbreaking. It is sad that a mall will take the place of the former site of Gabaldon. Most people think that a mall is a monument of progress. Well maybe, but scratching the surface it actually makes a town or city or any place generic, common and even boring. Especially if a mall cannot top Greenbelt, Megamall or Mall of Asia (actually this one sucks its only over rated) then these malls or place that plays host to these mammoth structures becomes negligible and worst, avoided because it makes the place dreary. I believe by desecrating a symbol of Nabua’s posterity makes the future of our town dreary like a “has been mall”. But a place with rich heritage as manifested by preserved edifices makes any place classic, never out of style and a place to always be visited. Sad to say, we already demolished that opportunity and replaced it by a philistine’s structure. There goes a Nabuenos pride, down the drain.
It’s pathetic but can somebody kindly at least salvage a pillar of the Gabaldon, and maybe we can make a relic out of it.
